DOURO SUITES GROUP WITH NEW HOTEL IN SANTA MARIA DA FEIRA

In 2020, a new hotel will arrive at Europarque in Santa Maria da Feira, under the coordination of the Douro Suites group (click in the name to learn more), a new hotel unit, - a three-million-euro investment in a four-star hotel that will create 25 new jobs.

The hotel will occupy the deactivated building of the Institute for Development and Technological Innovation (IDIT), located in Europarque and, as Lusa notices, will have 20 double rooms, six single and two suites with kitchenette; a bar with fireplace and a spa with indoor pool.

The opening is scheduled for April 2020 and the hotel, like other hotels in the group, will have a car and electric bicycle rental service that complements other environmentally conscious measures - the installation of photovoltaic panels that will guarantee 35% of the building's energy needs.

Douro Suites of Santa Maria da Feira will have pedestrian access to the Europarque gardens, there will be no restaurant because it bets on a partnership with the Lago restaurant, which operates inside Europarque - an option that Cláudia Amaral, director of Douro Suites, considers the most natural in view of its unbeatable location:

"It is an option that allows us to better manage the hotel, because we are aware that the offer of restaurants in the center of the city is very large and guests will want to try it," she says.

The IDIT building's brick façade, straight lines, tall and wide windows, an interior garden and a tree-lined general surround, were decisive in choosing this location - allowing for less time consuming and costly requalification.

The rehabilitation works started in 2018, mostly involving the collapse of walls to reorganize the interior space.

The project aims to create 25 new jobs, and the team will be trained for a month at the hotel itself, before opening.

The target audience of this investment is related to business tourism, because, as Claudia Amaral says, "the hotel is bordering with Europarque and LusoPark, an industrial zone where several large domestic and foreign companies are currently setting up".

An investment of around three million euros, of which one million euros is equity capitals, the rest is from the IFFRU - Urban Rehabilitation and Revitalization Financial Instrument, in partnership with the Millenium bank.
