COTEC launches intellectual property protection program

COTEC Portugal, in partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), launched a pilot project to support internationally growing companies in the management and protection of intangible assets and industrial property rights. The initiative is called IP Management Clinic.

The project aims to prepare companies. Among them, SMEs, smallcaps and start-ups with an established business model, in order to enhance access to a coaching program with experts and a comprehensive set of resources and guidance in order to make the most of intangible assets as an integral part of their business strategies.

The program lasts four months and will be based on four main moments with participants: examination of the main intangible assets and protection status, intellectual property strategy, mentoring process in the preparation of a management plan and protection of the most relevant intangible assets.

Participation is free, companies can apply by filling out a questionnaire available on the COTEC Portugal website (here) until April 26. Participating companies will also have the opportunity to have access to practical tools and resources, as well as workshops and practices and exclusive access to public and international events, opportunities to create networking spaces and support tools for defining and implementing their business strategy of industrial property.

Between 15 and 20 companies will be selected, according to their profile, growth strategy and importance of Industrial Property in their competitiveness. Since 2021, present in more than 30 countries around the world, the IP Management Clinic arrives in Europe for the first time through the partnership between COTEC Portugal and WIPO.
