DECO launches equipments repair platform

Goal: to help consumers

To encourage and empower consumers to repair appliances and electronic equipment instead of replacing them.

This is the goal of the new Repair Platform, from DECO PROteste, as part of a European initiative REP.per (Repair Perspective), announced on World Environment Day, June 5.

This platform is part of the ‘REP.per’ project, co-financed by Interreg Euro-Med and the European Union, to which DECO PROteste joins as a member representing Portugal. With this project, the organization aims to help change the mindsets and behaviors of everyone - consumers, manufacturers, companies and policy makers - and encourage the circular economy.

To this end, the DECO PROteste platform aims to increase consumers' repair skills and support companies in the economy of repairing appliances and equipment instead of replacing them, through information, training and support.

This initiative by DECO PROteste is in line with the new European directive on the "right to repair”, which must be transposed into national legislation by 31 July 2026.

The directive requires, among other measures, that manufacturers guarantee the possibility of repair even after the end of the legal guarantee and requires improved information on the durability of products.
