FEIRA CASTLE




Ex-libris of the Municipality, it is one of the most remarkable Portuguese military monuments. Throughout the times, it served as a Romanized castros’ villages, a stronghold against Norman invasions, a military fort in the time of the Reconquest, headquarter of the military region and housing of royal and noble families. It was also the great political center that led to the independence of Portugal.

LÓIOS CONVENT



A testimony of 16th century religious architecture, it is composed by the Mother Church of Santa Maria da Feira and the convent building, where the Convento dos Lóios is housed, dedicated to the history and heritage of the Municipality and of the region.

PAPER MUSEUM OF THE LAND OF SANTA MARIA



At the Paper Museum of Lands of Santa Maria, in Paços de Brandão - an active industrial and manufacturing museum - the visitor can get to know the History of Paper in Portugal and participate in the different processes of papermaking, interiorizing gestures and sharing memories.

This museum stands out for its varied assets, from which stand out the valuable collections of sacred art and cork articles, which the visitors can appreciate along sixteen rooms.

ROMARIZ CAMP



In Romariz it is located one of the most expressive archaeological stations of the region of Entre Douro e Vouga. The Castro of Romariz is a fortified settlement from the fifth century BC, with levels of occupation until the first century AD. The archaeological works of the Castro allowed to identify several phases of proto-historical and Roman occupation of this settlement.

CALDAS DE S. JORGE THERMAL SPA

The Ornithological Park of Lourosa opens a window to the wild world. It has around 500 birds, from 150 different species, many of them rare or endangered, which make this park an important thematic space for education, conservation and research of species and biodiversity.

MUNICIPAL MARKET



The Municipal Market of Santa Maria da Feira is a masterpiece of great importance for the Portuguese Traditional Architecture, classified as a monument of public and historical interest. Located in the historic center of the city, it fits into the surrounding landscape, maintaining visual links with the Castle, the Mother Church and the Museum Convento dos Lóios.

The Municipal Market, designed by the architect Fernando Távora with mosaic notes by Siza Vieira, is a scenario that serves as a stage for a great number of cultural activities throughout the year.

Cineteatro António Lamoso is an agent of creation and transdisciplinary artistic production, as well as an enhancer and diffuser space for the creative dimension.

It is intended to maintain a permanent action in the construction of habits of consumption of cultural goods, as well as in the construction, capture and loyalty of publics, with particular responsibility in the formation of aesthetic values in future generations.

It incorporates into its matrix the ideals of values, such as identity and territory, heterogeneity, presence and regularity, contemporaneity and construction.

As a cultural equipment, Cineteatro António Lamoso is a meeting place for heterogeneous audiences, with regular programs of quality, representative of the creative manifestations of our time, for the development of culture.

The Municipality of Santa Maria da Feira also has a great and beautiful landscape, such as Quinta do Castelo, the municipal gardens such as Porto Carvoeiro, as well as the lake and gardens of the EuroParque.
