Young entrepreneurs: IPDJ support programme coming soon

On Tuesday, the Youth Institute will be launching a programme to support the creation of companies by young people and of jobs for young people for the next two years.

The Empreende Já programme, promoted by the Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth (IPDJ, IP), will be presented on Tuesday, in Lisbon, in the presence of the State Secretary for Employment, Miguel Cabrita, and of the Secretary of State for Youth and Sport, João Paulo Rebelo.

Empreende Já was designed to support the creation and development of companies and entities for social economy, as well as the creation of jobs, by and for young people.

The programme will have two editions, between 2016 and 2018, each with two distinct actions.

The first is meant to support the development of projects towards the empowerment of young people, while the second is meant to support the sustainability of entities and jobs created under the programme and resulting from projects developed by young entrepreneurs.

IPDJ intends to involve 630 young NEET’s aged between 18 and 29 and support the integration and sustainability of 180 jobs.
The young entrepreneurs will be granted a 6 month financial scholarship in the equivalent of 1.65 of the Social Support Index, and those who progress to the second action will receive 10.000 euros to support the creation and sustainability of their company of entity for social sustainability.

The second financial support will imply keeping an active entity for two years.

Empreende is already part of the National Plan for the Implementation of a Warranty for Youth, which is co-financed in 4600000 euros by PO ISE – Operational Programme for Social Inclusion and Employment, within the framework of priority axis 2 – Youth Employment Initiative.
