WEB SUMMIT STARTS ON THE RIGHT FOOT

The third edition of the Web Summit in Portugal, which takes place until Thursday in Lisbon and where about 70 thousand participants from more than 170 countries are expected, starts on the right foot. 

The president of AICEP said to Lusa that he has "a positive expectation” regarding this innovation and technology event, expecting that it "also exceeds” the 2017’s edition, Foreign and Borders Service reinforced the effective people at Lisbon Airport due to the accomplishment of the summit and the strike of Lisbon Metro scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday was called off. 

"We (AICEP), have a positive expectation, just as we had las year”, he said, counting on a "set of important interlocutors (…), either to give new prospects to clients that already exist, or to introduce Portugal to new clients”, underlined the president of AICEP – Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal, Luís Castro Henriques.

Last year’s edition "brought some new topics”, either in terms of contents, where "there was clearly a diversification”, or in terms of the number of participants. 

The president of AICEP expects this Web Summit edition to exceed the number of participants from last year and to maintain the "profile of the interventions as diversified” as that of 2017.

Asked to comment on the fact that the Web Summit will continue for another 10 years in Portugal, the president of AICEP said that "it is an event that has a great impact, it has been a success, at least in the last two years, and now we will have the third edition, which has in fact, in first place, brought many people with a very interesting profile to Portugal, secondly, it has been a good moment to not only foster our startups, but also to establish some contacts in different sectors and to diversify the profile of the relationship we have with some customers we already have for many years”.

In the meantime, in an answer sent to Lusa Agency, Foreign and Borders Service said that the reinforcement at Lisbon Airport will continue until Friday and this sizing of the effective people was done taking into consideration the number of participants, arrivals and departures predicted at that airport structure in the scope of the Web Summit.
