TIAGO SÁ FROM SANTA MARIA DA FEIRA DISTINGUISHED BY FORBES – INTERVIEW
Founder of Wisecrop is on the European list of promising young people
Born in Santa Maria da Feira, Tiago Sá, 30, founder and CEO of the startup Wisecrop, was selected by Forbes magazine for the European list of promising young people as a social entrepreneur (Forbes'30-Under 30). Wisecrop, founded in 2014, presents itself as an operating system for the agricultural sector, which aims to increase the farmers' productivity.
When and how is Wisecrop born?
The project started five years ago, in fact there is a bit more from the point of view of the idea. We were at the university and worked with an innovative wireless data transmission technology. The project of the curricular unit was to develop a prototype for home automation: monitoring of lights, temperature, remote control of fans ... we implemented the system and at the end of the subject we thought that technology could be applied to other sectors, to a marketable product. We began to focus attention on different sectors, including agriculture. In fact, the start was in 2013, when we applied for the start-up Chile, an accelerator. We went there in November 2013. When we got back, in 2014, we opened the company.
