SANTA MARIA DA FEIRA IS THE SIXTH MOST EXPORTING MUNICIPALITY FROM THE NORTHERN REGION

The Northern Coordination and Regional Development Commission (CCDRN) updated the North Structure (Norte Estrutura).

The Northern Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDRN) updated the third edition of the document Norte Estrutura – whose goal passes through spreading, quarterly, an analysis of some aspects of the regional economy - in January, which is based on international trade statistics of produced goods, counting on definitive results until 2016 and provisional ones for 2017.

At the top of the most exporting municipalities of the Northern Region, Vila Nova de Famalicão maintains the first place. At the national level, it ranks third in a list led by Lisbon and in which Palmela appears in second place. Setúbal is fourth, followed by five municipalities in the Northern Region - Maia, Vila Nova de Gaia, Braga, Guimarães and Santa Maria da Feira - with Sintra closing the list of the Portuguese ten most exporting municipalities in 2017.

Santa Maria da Feira (6.1%) and Guimarães (6.3%) fell down one position, being relegated to the sixth and fifth positions of the most exporting municipalities in the Northern Region, respectively, surpassed by Braga, which passed from 5.4% to 6.8%.

Gathering Porto and Matosinhos to Vila Nova de Famalicão, Maia, Vila Nova de Gaia, Braga, Guimarães and Santa Maria da Feira, we identify the eight municipalities that originated in 2017 more than half the value of exports of goods by companies from the north with 51.2%.

In the list of the 100 most exporting companies in the Northern Region, Amorim & Irmãos is in the seventh position, in a list headed by Bosch (Braga). On the other hand, Amorim Revestimentos takes the 35th place, ECCO the 51st, Amorim Cork Composites the 53rd, ECCCLET the 67th, SO CORI (Society of Cork from Rio Meão) the 85th and Cork Supply the 86th  these are the seven companies from Santa Maria da Feira which marks presence.
