Rittal: sensationally brilliant

Rittal has launched a new generation of luminaires, especially meant for industrial cabinets. In order to meet global requirements, a Rittal is creating new standards with the energy efficiency and high performance of LED technology, providing up to 1200 lumens. It also offers easy connectability and several assembly possibilities. The supplier of systems for industrial cabinets technology is offering a number of innovative details that ensure an ideal lighting for industrial cabinets, which simplifies installation tasks.

Lighting is often neglected when an industrial cabinet is planned. The concern with lighting is correspondingly poor when it is meant to function in industrial cabinets, the identification of different wire colours, for example, is vital during installation or maintenance works. "Working with industrial cabinets became simpler because of our innovation, which employs state of the art lighting technology. It also helps preventing mistakes during installation, maintenance or repair works, thus preventing costly delays”, told us Christian Dietrich, Product Director for Industrial Cabinets at Rittal. He added: "The simple assembly process of the new luminaries economizes valuable time during the process.”

Two models of the new luminary range, with luminous fluxes of 900 and 1200 lumens, will be on sale. The new luminaries use the latest LED technology as lighting source, ensuring a high level of energy efficiency and a longer life span as compared to other lighting sources. A lens made of transparent plastic, with integrated Fresnel lenses, illuminates the industrial cabinet. Thus, there is a focus on the luminary, so that the whole industrial cabinet is illuminated with a goal, even in the lower part, which means that the luminary is integrated where it is really necessary – without dispersing light to the exterior. Optionally, the luminaries can be switched on or off through an integrated switch, a door switch or a motion sensor. Furthermore, each luminary is equipped with a socket. What is more, its connection technology simplifies assembly and allows for a quick installation. The lights can be switched on through pre-assembled cables with connectors. The lamp connection can be turned 90 degrees, so that the cable can be easily fit in, even in narrow compartments measuring a mere 600 mm.

The new luminaries ideally fit into Rittal’s TS 8 cabinet system, having been adapted for the casement section without any loss of space. A special advantage for a quick installation: one person is able to assemble the lamp without any additional help. This is because each model comes with three assembly options: with a magnetic retender, a clamp fastener in the TS8 section or by thread locking. These luminaries can be used all over the world, as they are multi-tension throughout the range. This is a great plus for experts in the manufacture of switchboards, as well as for internationally active mechanical engineering sectors. Regardless of the factory being in Germany, the United States or Asia, the same luminary can be installed in each metallic cabinet. This way, there is no need for any change to the electric plan or list of parts. The luminaries have all the necessary and important international approvals. With this development, Rittal is also simplifying a number of procedures in the fields of purchasing and assembly. Switchboard manufacturers and mechanical engineering companies benefit from the simplified process for ordering and stocking, which reduces the number of necessary references.
