Portugal Expo | 2016

The Portuguese-Luxembourger Chamber of Commerce and Industry will organize, on 2, 3 and 4 December 2016, the first major multisector fair in Luxembourg fully devoted to products made in Portugal.

Named PORTUGAL-EXPO 2016, this fair will include two aspects (B2B and B2C) and will be divided into various showrooms totalling over 4.000 sq. m., which takes into account the specific features of the Luxembourg and  Greater Sarr-Lor-Lux region, i.e. a regional market with 11 million consumers and a GDP of over 320 billion euros, where every day 210 000 people cross the borders of their country of residence to consume, work and operate or create their companies in a neighbouring country.

It should be noted that, in a country where the average yearly GDP growth rate in the last five years was of 3,4%, the volume of Portuguese exports increased during the same period at around 15% per year. As for the sector concerning services made in Portugal, the volume in exports has doubled during the last two years.

It should also be highlighted that Luxembourg is offering more and more opportunities for Portuguese exports, not only because of the important resident Portuguese-speaking community (25% of the country’s population), but also due to the high purchasing power of its populations (more than double of EU average) and the fact that it is a totally open economy with intense trade relations with France, Germany and Belgium.

Thus, the PORTUGAL-EXPO Fair is for all Portuguese companies with an interest in this Central European market an excellent way of testing the market and engage with future trade partners in the region, at a reduced cost.
