ONLINE SHOPPING WITH NEW RULES UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR

Banco de Portugal believes that Portuguese banks will meet the deadline for this change, which intends to make online shopping safer, like what happens with electronic access to accounts.

Until the end of the year, online card payments will meet changes to have a new layer of security. From 2021 on, credit card data such as the card number and expiration date will become invalid for internet purchases, according to Jornal de Negócios.

Authentication is now done through at least two elements: something that only the user knows (like a password), something that only the user has (like a mobile phone) or something inherent to the user (like a fingerprint). This strong authentication will also have to be applied to online card payments.
