National metallurgical industry is the second largest in Global Industrie

Through AIMMAP - Association of Metallurgical, Metal-mechanic and Related Industries of Portugal, more than 60 companies related to the metallurgical sector are in the Global Industrie.

The representation of Portuguese companies in the national metallurgical sector is the second largest in Global Industrie, the largest industrial subcontracting fair, which is running from Tuesday and lasts until tomorrow in Paris.

Through AIMMAP - Association of Metallurgical, Metal-mechanic and Related Industries of Portugal, more than 60 companies related to the metallurgical sector are in the Global Industrie.

Only France, host country of this event, has a larger business presence.

The Portuguese mission at Global Industrie will be visited today at 10 am by Augusto Santos Silva, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and by Eurico Brilhante Dias, Secretary of State for Internationalization.

"The results usually achieved by the exhibiting companies are excellent, because they establish interesting contacts from which it has been possible to develop business and promote sales in the relevant markets, particularly in the French market," says Rafael Campos Pereira, AIMMAP spokesperson.

France is one of the main markets for Portuguese exports in the sector, which, globally, were worth about 16 billion euros, taking this responsible to claim that this is "the most exporting industry in Portugal."

According to Rafael Campos Pereira, "industrial subcontracting represents an annual business volume of around six thousand million euros, three thousand million of which are related to direct exports and the remaining part are indirect exports, which means sales of components for companies that export final products ".

The Portuguese participation in Global Industrie has been growing since 2008, when AIMMAP took in its first mission 17 participating companies.

The Portuguese companies participating in Global Industrie aim to increase exports and cover the full range of high value added industrial subcontracting, from mechanics, laser cutting, sheet metal work, tools, foundry, forge.

According to a statement from AIMMAP, these companies "can take advantage of opportunities from international customers linked to the aeronautics and automotive sector or to nuclear and renewable energy."
