MARITA MORENO WINS MOMAD SUSTAINABILITY AWARD

The sustainable Portuguese brand of fashion accessories Marita Moreno is the winner of the "Fashion, Sustainability and Business" award that is given in the framework of the latest edition of Fashion in Madrid, in which she participated as part of the Portugal Fashion delegation. The decision rewards factors such as product, brand image and sustainability components.

"It is with great joy and pride that we share the news that we have received the second edition of the award," the brand reacted on its social pages, adding that the distinction "is an indication that we are on the right way. Thank you everyone who shares this path with us”.

The award that selects a brand among hundreds of participants at what is known as the most important fashion fair on the peninsula is awarded taking into consideration a number of factors. Aspects such as brand and product image, collection design, raw material used, place of production, and responsibility as a brand.

Alongside the visibility and prestige of a distinction obtained at an international fair dedicated to the latest fashion, footwear and accessories trends, the brand has the guarantee of free participation in the next edition of the event, in February 2020.

Marita Setas Ferro (pictured below) is the founder and creative director of the brand that is based on sustainability factors as well as on an ethical perspective, in which the history of the products is fundamental to its definition as a "slow fashion" brand.

"We only work with sustainable materials, we only use Portuguese labor force and manufacturing in the creation of the pieces and we use the texture of the materials and colors as fundamental elements in the creation of a geometric and sculptural design”, emphasizes the brand. In the production of her collections, she prefers to use environmentally friendly materials such as cork, linen, wood, lace or fibers derived from banana peels.
