INE CONFIRMS: ECONOMY GREW 1.8% IN THE SECOND QUARTER

According to recent data revealed by the National Institute of Statistics/Statistics of Portugal, the Portuguese economy grew 1.8% in the second quarter.

Forecasts pointed to the confirmation by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) that the Portuguese economy grew 1.8% in the second quarter of this year compared to the same period of 2018 and 0.5% over the previous quarter.

The government expects the economy to grow by 1.9% in 2019, above the predicted 1.7%, by the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Bank of Portugal, and also above the 1.6% anticipated by the Public Finance Council.
