ICT: A MARKET IN PERMANENT EXPANSION

The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector has drastically changed over the years. Although, there has been a constant: the exponential growth of this area. Smart Cities.

According to IDC, the ICT market in Portugal will grow 2.2% and reach, in 2019, 8,240 million euros. In three years, it is expected that the ICT market in Portugal will reach 8,586 million euros, a number that is of great importance to LISPOLIS, which hosts more than 50 companies that provide services and develop products in this sector.

In accordance with the same study, the forecast of the technologies with greater growth points to cloud technologies, Internet of Things, Big Data and cybersecurity. The development of these areas has been crucial to sustain innovation, as well as the proposals in relatively recent concepts such as:

Smart Cities: The concept of smart cities, the so-called "Intelligent Cities”, is becoming more and more current, as there are great challenges to be solved, in terms of either mobility, air quality, housing or ecology, among others. And the Portugal Smart Cities Summit, an event organized by the AIP Foundation with the support of the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities (ANMP), was attended by more than 130 exhibitors, among municipalities and companies, who took the opportunity to present their solutions that can, or are already, responding to the challenges of their cities, contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of their citizens. Among the exhibitors were five companies LISPOLIS: Algardata, EPL Mechatronics & Robotics, FocusBC, IDMind and Six-Factor.
