Comuniti and Alves Bandeira establish partnership

discounts on online purchases and fuel

Online supermarket Comuniti.pt and energy company Alves Bandeira have established a partnership that will allow customers of  both brands to benefit from discounts on purchases made at the other company.

Comuniti customers will now receive discount vouchers on fuel, while Alves Bandeira consumers will be able to exchange the points accumulated on their loyalty card for effective savings on the e-commerce platform. These advantages result from a partnership between Comuniti, a supermarket based in Canedo which sells basic necessities through the internet, and energy company Alves Bandeira, specialized in fuel.

This is Comuniti's first such partnership, and they so not intend to stop here. The co-founder of the online supermarket, Ravit Turjeman, stated that "this is the first of several partnerships that are being prepared by our e-commerce platform with a view to providing our customers with more solutions that help them to buy smarter, with guaranteed real savings on goods that are absolutely necessary in everyday life, as is the case with groceries and car fuel”.

In turn, Alves Bandeira's marketing director, Pedro Mascarenhas, reveals that the partnership between the two brands "came naturally."

In concrete terms, the partnership between Comuniti and Alves Bandeira, as explained by the online supermarket, can materialize in several ways: "When customers who do not yet have a loyalty card at Alves Bandeira turn to the online supermarket, they will receive by each purchase on the platform, regardless of the total amount, a discount voucher to use in one of the more than 160 service stations that the petrol station has throughout the country. This voucher will allow them to discount two euros for every 40 litres of fuel, up to the maximum amount of six euros in a single supply of 120 litres. In the case of customers already loyal to Alves Bandeira, the purchases they make at Comuniti will always entitle them to vouchers of 12 cents off each litre of fuel ”.

Conversely, "customers with Alves Bandeira loyalty cards are now able to exchange 200 points for discounts of five to 15 euros at Comuniti, depending on the total amount of purchases. There are three options: you can discount the 200 points for five euros at savings on a minimum order of 50 euros, exchange them for 12 euros of discount on a purchase of at least 100 euros or convert them into 15 euros of reduction on an invoice of not less than 125 euros. In case of first-time Comuniti customers, on their first purchase they can still accumulate the exchange of 200 points with a 15% discount on the total expense, without losing any of the other promotions that the supermarket has in place”.

The co-founder of the e-commerce platform, Rui Adrego, admits that the cooperation between the two companies "is not innovative in the distribution sector", but has a "special meaning" in the current conjuncture of health crisis and is particularly advantageous for customers who, simultaneously, make regular purchases at both Comuniti and Alves Bandeira. "Next to essential expenses such as food, personal and domestic hygiene, and the rent or provision of the house, fuel costs are the ones that weigh most in the family budget. It is precisely for this reason that we have given priority to the energy sector in this first partnership of ours: if it is filling the car tank that our customers have the most costs, that is exactly where we want to help them ”, says the businessman.
