Business Mission to the Philippines

Expecting a consistent growth of 6.1% per year in the period 2018-22, the Philippine archipelago proves to be one of the most stable and growing economies in the region.

Its focus on economic reforms - enabling the population to have a greater purchasing power - has had very positive results in what concerns domestic consumption, making its market one of the most dynamic in the region of East Asia and, consequently, one of the most attractive for foreign investors.

A substantial increase in public spending is expected, along with the expected growth of imports and exports.

Its solid economic base and competitive labour force make the country one of the most attractive markets in the region, as well as an attraction for all types companies.

In this sense, the national development plan for the period 2017-2022 intends to continue to boost the economy and external competitiveness, given its location geographically close to major markets such as Australia, China, Japan or New Zealand.

In what concerns the business opportunities, the country still lacks an industrial development and technological capacity adequate to its weight in the world economy. For the Portuguese people, the sectors of construction of equipment and infrastructures, renewable energies, water networks management, construction materials, food processing, waste treatment and ICT are central. In these areas, the technology and quality of our products and services can consolidate this new stage in the Philippine economy.
