Business Mission to Brazil

The Portuguese Business Association and the Brazilian-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry are co-organizing a business mission to Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte from 25 to 30 September 2016.

This mission aims to support companies in their process towards market diversification and conquering international quotas.

Despite its current economic contraction, Brazil remains the world’s ninth economy and Latin America’s main powerhouse, and boasts the region’s largest population: 205 million.  Trade relations with Brazil continue to have a great importance to Portugal, due to their historical ties bonds and the global positioning of Brazil’s market.

Brazil provides countless opportunities in a number of sectors, from construction, machinery and tools, transportation equipment, chemical products, renewable energies and foodstuff to pharmaceutical and hospital products, among others.

The current negotiations regarding the EU-Mercosul Free Trade Agreement represent a new paradigm in the trade and economic relations between the two trade blocks, with a significant and progressive reduction of tariffs for goods and services. Portugal will surely be one of the European countries to benefit the most, in proportion to its GDP, from this agreement, which is expected to be closed at around 2017.
